We have long term care of 2 children. They have been in our care for five years since they were babies. The court decided there is no hope of restoration. Their Birth Mum has recently said she thinks there might be Aboriginality in the family. Our case worker said we can’t adopt until this is proven one way or the other. Does anyone know what the rules are regarding the adoption of Aboriginal Children who will never be returned to their birth parents?

    Hi MumaDette,
Did you ever find the answers you needed? Last I heard they generally never support adoption of Aboriginal kids. Your caseworker should be doing the investigation into your kids background.
    Good luck!
